Citizendium Project

The Citizendium Project sounds like it is attempting to merge the strengths of Wikipedia and Britannica by creating a more stable and authoritative version of Wikipedia.

They are calling it a “Progressive Fork” of Wikipedia, meaning that they are attempting to take it to another level, rather than a different direction.

It is in the planning stages, so this will be one to wait and see.  If it works out, this could be the wiki that you can cite on a research paper.
